I found a maverick today partially covered by a tarp. It has been repainted but has the stallion emblem (decal) on the fenders. The headlight bezels have been removed so I could not tell if had been blacked out or not. The car is in mid to fair condition from what I could tell. Question is how do I tell if it is a real stallion or not. If it is a stallion what would it be worth (assuming condition fair at best) Don't want pay to much. It looks like the car has been sitting for a couple of years. Mark
The top half of the car was under the tarp. I could only see the front end and from about mid door down. I couldn't see any visible rust but was unable to get up close to the car due to its location.
Unfortunately there is no real way to determine an original Stallion. There are no codes anywhere to verify and Marti only goes up to 73 with his records. You just have to go by what you see and take your best guess.
I wonder if a FREE History 999 report from Ford would say if it was a Stallion or not??? Anybody know?
That would be interesting. I know it dosent mention the Sprint Package in mine although it lists all the stuff that came with the Sprint package. I keep meaning to get one for my Comet GT to see if it mentions the GT package.
After I had bought my Stallion, I got a build report from Ford's archives. There was nothing really to say what it was built as. Like Dennis said, you'l have to take a best guess as to it's originality.
