I was doing some searching and stumbled across this Q&A ad which was printed in the Geyserville Press. http://news.google.com/newspapers?n...wglAAAAIBAJ&sjid=ShEGAAAAIBAJ&pg=2860,1065235
Pretty cool... I was all ready to send a $1.00 for the 1/25 scale model but then noticed offer expired 7/31/69...
Thought I'd post this again as likely most who have joined in the last year have not seen it... BTW -- Paul note there VINs are displayed for the $2276 Mustang... Apparently they had two and are equipped with 200 6cyl, and no doubt stickshift, less P/S, P/B, A/C etc... Mustang with 200 were four lug...
That's pretty neat, Tom! Too bad they didn't list all the VIN's for the new Mavericks they had in stock... Have you tried 'googling' the two Mustang VINs to see if anything pops up??
Paul I didn't get any hits on what I think is the top VIN(9R01T170311), the second isn't legible enough for me to to make out(a acquaintance in CA sent me the JPG, I don't have the paper) ... No doubt the first five digits would be same for both as in '69 San Jose was building Mustangs just down the road from Burbank(figuratively speaking of course)...
The mustang with the VIN # on the picture more than likely indicates that those TWO cars ONLY are for that price. You will see special "pricing" on advertisements and that's for that specific car only. Its also a trick to get people to flood the lot looking for a car at a specific $ amount, and they've sold it and talk you into spending the extra few hundred dollars to drive off the lot today. Ive worked around car lots for 6-7 years and see it happen all the time Although, pretty cool.
