I have a 1977 maverick 2 door 302 original motor, I am restoring to stock factory condition. Car was in real good shape when I got it, but noticed it did not say maverick anywhere on the vehicle. I assumed it got painted and emblems never got back on the car. But I ordered a 1977 ford brochure and none of the cars have a maverick emblem on them in the pictures. Any one know the story on this? Usually they are on the front fender towards the back, or behind the back window on other years???
I thought it had the maverick emblem on the grille and ford along the top of the trunk. I didn't think the 77 maverick had any other emblems on the exterior of the car.
I believe Craig et al had made remarks to the fact that the 1977's were the only Mavericks that didn't say "Maverick" on them. The gas cap would have said Maverick, though. I also believe the 1977's also had one-piece quarter extensions, IIRC. My '71 Grabber has 5 "Maverick" emblems on the car. Maybe by '77, everyone was tired of driving billboards, or they ran out of emblems and didn't want to make any more, seeing how it was the last year of production in North America??
1977 Ford Mavericks do not say Maverick anywhere on the outside of the car. Niether do 1977 Comets (I have one) The one piece rear quarter extensions were late in the 1977 model year.
I wouldn't expect ANY Comet to say "Maverick" on it... Thanks for the clarification on the quarter extensions.
My car was a driving billboard. One on grill, one on each front fender, one on both sides of the rear C pillar, one on the Trunk lid, one on the dash, and of course the gas cap. 8 Logos in total (69.5 mav)
I had a 74 maverick in high school and it had them behind the back side window and on the side of front fenders behind the front wheels. My 77 as I said has none and the 77 ford brochure pictures show none. They must have ran out of maverick emblems the last year? Weird! I hope that's the only thing they ran out of! I wish I knew the real story. I guess I will leave them off to keep it stock!
