i have a pulsing vibration at around 45-55 mph. it also vibrates pretty bad when accelerating at around half throttle or more. if you put it into neutral it goes away. the tranny just got rebuilt along with the engine, i took it to a garage to get the u-joints checked and he said if a u-joint was bad it would be hot to the touch after a short drive? any ideas? could a drive shaft that is to long do this.
A Pulsing vibration as you describe it usually points to bad u joint(s).Ive always just checked them for slack/play and that they move through the range of motion without any binding.Seen them "creak also" and make noises.sometimes a joint can be bad without any factors above it would have to be dissasembled to check the "shaft" for wear from the needle bearings When in doubt they are a cheap part to replace and if any doubts i would replace them just make sure to buy a good quality joint.
A too long/short shaft could cause it.Also a bad U joint a bent shaft...improperly balanced shaft.Tail shaft bushing in trans could be bad as well.Bad pinion angle would do it too.Loose/broken trans mount...
im getting my drive shaft shortened to the right length (stock v-8). the trans has all new stuff i just put that in a week ago. all the mounts are new, so what brand u-joints should i get??? i have a 351w so i take the stock 6cly wont do to good?
