I voted 'manual', but only on the condition that the car uses a 'power' box.

The manual box takes like 27 turns to get anywhere! ;)

I exaggerate, but that is exactly how it feels when you are desperately needing the steering to respond, but it just keeps wanting another turn.

I, myself, have manual steering, but not by choice. My car came with it when I bought it. I used to have a 75 4-door that had it, I liked it, but then I didn't. I'm just wondering if it's worth the hassle to install power steering. However, I do like the manual steering in that it's less stuff to go wrong with the car! And ratio411, I totally agree! Manual steering is weird sometimes!:rofl2:

It's just because they engineer more turns in the steering box so that the 'feel' is easy. The folks that bought these cars back then would not have bought one with manual steering and a quick box.

I took the power off my 75, but left the quick ratio box.
I will admit that when the car was not moving, steering effort was high, but when rolling, it was cool. Plus I was using a 13" steering wheel, which kills leverage...
However, handling when going down the road, and response was great.

Manual steering with a power box. My dad's '71 Torino has power steering, and I find it unnerving how ridiculously easy the wheel turns, especially at highway speeds. My '71 F250 was the exact same way, even in that big old heavy truck.

yea im going manual once the 6cyl is out. sounds like keeping the power box is the thing to do so thats probably the route im going

the under side of my car is a oily mess from the P/s and i thought things might look a little better under te hood with less crap on the engine, probably free up a few hp too. its not a daily driver so im sure i can live without it. i drive my comet everyday to school, which involves a parking lot and im sure i'll be happier if i leave the PS hooked up

If you have a good strong back and strong arms manual steering is the way to go but if, like me, you have back problems that power steering is real nice when it's time to park.
The cars are not hard to turn on the road with manual steering but try to parallel park one.

Ha, this is funny, last night I was out in the garage cleaning up a manual center link, getting ready to remove all the power steering stuff off my 73, even though it's all been rebuilt, I want to go manual, one less thing to worry about.
