Right now I have stock manifold coming off of my 351w in my 72 comet. The clearance on both sides to the strut tower wall is about 1/8 of an inch to nothing  I was wondering if I put headers on would that take up the same amount of room as the manifold, or more? I don't want to order a set, and run into problems. Any help thanks!

Headers typically need more room than the cast manifold.

There are only a couple of 351w header options.
Shaving the towers makes a huge difference, but is not required.

    Big tube options:
Hooker 65-66 Mustang 351w headers. Forgot the part number. They go in with some tweaking here and there of the engine bay and components. There are plenty of threads here with how-tos.

Crites 351w swap headers. The have been discontinued, but were brought out of retirement recently for a group-buy here on the site. You could contact and find out when they intend to do it again, or if they have any left from the group purchase.

Small tubes: (almost not worth the trouble)
    Tubular Automotive (ES9?)

Hedman (forgot the PN and they might be discontinued)
