In these catalogs I am looking at I see all kinds of part specs. This is what I want to do. I have a 1972 C4 Auto w/302. Trans is getting rebuilt by a great trans builder around here. I am going to get a torque converter and flex plate. I have done pretty much all the standard upgrades, 4bbl, headers, HEI, electric fuel pump, flow masters, edelbrock performer cam and intake, 100 hp NOS in the spring, 3.55 posi, electric water pump and fan. So here are the questions:

    1) I understand I have a small bell housing with 157 tooth, do I get a balanced flex plate?
    2) Are all torque converters balanced? They dont have specs on that in the catalogs, so I presume they must be?
    3) Do I get a 10.5" bolt pattern on the flex plate and torque converter, the catalogs also have 11.5" bolt patterns?
    4) The trans is 26 spline I beleive, you guys agree?
    5) Stall speed- everyone on here is kinda on the high end like 2500-3500. My neighbor is telling me 2000 rpm at most. Im thinking a 2200-2500 Hughes stall. Your thoughts?

    Thanks

Number 5. Your stall should be what the manufacturer suggests. Factors like cam specs, rear end ratio weight etc. They know the product and will sell you what will work. The company I dealt with was bang on for my first Mav. GER. George E Reynolds out of Pennsylvania I believe. 10" 3500 and it stalled at 3200 on the foot brake.
That was a few years back. Still have the converter though.

With a 100 hp shot of nitrous you are going to need at least 3000 and if I was building a C4 for you I would STRONGLY suggest 3500 to 4000 rpm stall on a billet converter. The converter will help absorb the 100 hp kick that your nitrous is going to use to destroy your C4.
