Hey guys, im Steve from Connecticut and im new to this forum. Ive been doing alot of work searching for a 71/72 Maverick Grabber Project car and have not had very much luck. The only ones i have found are in California and id much rather find one closer to Connecticut for obvious reasons. Any help you guys can give me will be much appreciated.

Welcome and good luck. Remember, $1000 spent shipping a rust free car is money better spent then $1000s fixing a rusted east coast car.

Thank you Ryan, i wouldnt mind spending the money to ship an immaculate vehicle to the east coast, but i cant find any where they are unrusted and not restored. Another concern i have with doing something like that is the fact that i have to take the sellers' word for everything and i cant go out and look at the car myself. Also in my "travels" through buying over the internet i have hard time buying large, costly, items because there is always a chance that there will be an issue and my money is now in the wind. That is just a personal issue i have with doing something like that.

Buy the best, most complete car you can afford.
If the car is on the West coast, I'm sure you could find a member of this board that would go look at it for you, it's been done a few times.

Welcome aboard! Definitely like you said, long distance purchases like a car is very risky..if you do find a good one though I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if somebody on this forum was willing to go check it out for you. lots of helpful people on here. You've come to the right place!

Hey thanks guys for the suggestions, I didnt even think of having someone go look at it. Thats a great idea! I will definetely keep that in mind as i continue my search. As for a budget, I really dont have one in mind; but as I said earlier I want a project car. It can be rough, as long as it's structurely sound. As you guys know I'm going to dump alot of money into this thing, so as cheap as i can get, but not to the point that the car isnt worth it. Ideally if i could get it with some of the original "hard-to-finds" (steel grabber hood, fender emblems, grill emblem, etc.) that would be great. I hope I'm making sense...

As far as a budget: Are we talking $500...or $2500?

I'd say we're probably looking at 1500. I'd really like to get a solid car for right around 1000 and go from there. Obviously the higher the intial price, logically the more complete it is. I've said before some of the things im looking for in this car.

For $1500 you should be able to find at least a pretty solid body. Might not have a drive train...but at least a solid body. If you could add another $1000 to $1500 to it, you could get a real solid car that will need less money spent on it in the long run. Your best bet is to have something shipped to you from out west or down south.

    Check out the craigs ad...

Guy has a full roller 302 and tranny for car. Will include everything for $1750. Car has mint grille in car, two sets of door panels and other extras (seatbelts) etc that I've seen sell here. It's a nice car. Paint in decent job. Body is nice. No rust issues.
