We've all found weird stuff in our Mavericks at one time or another. Especially when we are taking the interiors out. Well today I found something in my neighbors car I can't indentify. This car has never been worked on before, so everything in it is as it was when it rolled off the assembly line. When I lifted up the carpet on the drivers side I found this odd looking plastic part or tool. It apprently was left on the floor before the carpet was put in. Dale thinks it was a tool used for installing the speedo cable behind the dash cluster. I have no idea what it is, so I'm throwing out to you guys. What do you think this thing is.

Definitely anassembly line installation/alignment tool but the pic doesnt really give an idea of the tools actual size so... Difficult to say where or what it would be used on in the car. My best guess would be a tool used to hold the seatbelt receiver and mount bolt together as an assembly while it is installed in the car. Probably had a rubber band or strarp of some sort to hold the receiver/ strap rigid for handeling/installation.

Looks like something that the tool makers in the plant made for a production worker to make the job easier and avoid repairs. Sometimes these things were left in the car at lunch or at the end of the shift and were lost. One day I was inspecting an engine compartment and I found an expensive battery powered screw driver. I turned it in of course!

I'm wondering if it's possibly used for holding the accelerator cable in place during assy. Maybe used while waiting on the pedal to be installed? It appears to be slotted.

An assembly line tool as others thought.
I have a good tool at work from old fords. Try to remember to bring it home tomorrow and do another one of these threads.
