My story begins when I was in the junkyard one day and I was getting little stuff from a 73 4 door that had the LDO trim on the side of the car with plastic or rubber inserts in the trim. Then I noticed that there was another peice of trim on the pillar between the front door and the back door. I had never seen this before and thougt it would look good on my car. My car is a '77 4 door Maverick that looks odd due to the Red and White dual-tone paint that anyone who knows me can see me comming a mile away. It looks just like Paul Masson's 4 door and thats the only other one I have seen. So I was thinking of putting the trim from the junker on my car, but when I walked to the passanger side, it wasn't there due to being T-boned I was wondering if anyone could help me out on where to find one for the oter side. I was also wondering since the inerts on mine were white, but dirty, if I could use tire bleach to clean them up. I was also wondering if anyone had a bench seat that has an armrest in the middle from the factory. I was just courious because mine is the only one I have herd of. Sorry about the length and thanks for any help.
My 77' Maverick two door has the bench seat you are describing. I have the original window sticker for the car and the seat was called a Flight Bench seat. Other than my own Maverick, yours is the only other one I've heard of with that kind of seat.
Jean, I love the look of those seats! I have seen them in Maverick sales lit. etc., but I hadn't ever seen them in a Maverick before either. Just curious, has anyone every seen this seats in other Ford vehicles i.e. Mustang etc.?
no camera Mavahiloc, I would love to post a picture but I cant. The thing I can tell you is that it is about 15 in. or so and that it's about 2.5 in. in the base and tapers near the top. I don't care about the color of the insert, but I don't want you to go looking just for me. But it between the glass of the front door and the glass of the back door. Very different and you would know it off the bat because that part of the body i usually painted, not crome. So if you could keep an eye out I would appreciate it. Jean, thats the one, but yours looks a little better than mine. Redone? Or just still good shape. Any who, I gess we are just two of a kind now. Keep it Looking good. Thanks for the replies. Jeremy
Hey Jean, I probably already told you this once, but I saw one of those flight seats in red in a junk yard once. Almost pulled it to keep, I thought it was neat. Hey Doc, is this where the piece is located?
yep Thats the spot and it looks like that has one. I'm not sure due to the picture. looks like a fun project. let me now if you find one Mavoholic. Thanks for the help BTW I'm Doc's son Jeremy, making a 4 door sleeper!!! -Jeremy
Doc.... I have several of those. All of mine is missing the vinyl insert. email me if interested: cselvey@netdirect.net
I have a '77 parts car that came with the flight bench seat. I pulled it out of the car a while ago to preserve it, as it's a nice tan one. Sam
lots of granadas and monarchs have seats like that.. scott and todd from new jersery put one from a granada into a mav. if i recall it was a direct bolt in for thoughs of us that like bench seats but not the passenger in our laps on hard right turns, unless she is hot!
