Ive never even seen one. Any recommended one I can go to? My friends have been to some but they say there isnt alot of old cars. Any ideas?

    Duster,

Between me, 924 Mav, and a few others, it is "almost" safe to say that there aren't any mavericks in Houston junk yards, and DEFINTELY not like Jamie is finding.

What has been found are 6 out near you in Columbus, 2 in San Antonio, and I know of a couple (about 6 more) in people's back yards. For some reason, our junk yards don't have them like in Georgia.

BUT, there is always the chance...and I wouldn't mind going on a search with you if you ever wish to do so. I can quickly tell you where we WON'T find any from my experience...But, there are a couple that I would like to search, one in Liberty and one near Humble, that would have older cars like ours. Your friends are right...for some reason, anything older than 1985 is already crushed for the most part.

I have pictures of the Columbus junk yard cars, so if you have any parts in particular that you want to see, PM me and I will share the pics.

Since Katrina, I have had several people calling me that know about my Maverickitis and telling me about ones popping up in salvage yards on the coast. Come to find out they were flooded so I've been passing. Hell, got enough flooded ones already...don't want any more like that.:(

This saturday may be bad for me also (financially...just paid all my bills and ain't got nuthin left  ), and I don't think the weather will work for us. It is kinda late to try to get 4 guys together on short notice, so maybe one saturday in the next few weeks?

4 guys all looking for Maverick parts. What happens when you find only 1 spoiler or bucket seat set?

    Missing my old '70 Maverick
    Saturday Morning / May 06

Well, I just got back from a junkyard here in Houston that had 5/6 Mavericks.

I got a set of high-back bucket seats in perfect condition, 2 Grabber Hoods in excellent shape, 3 complete Rear Spoilers, 12 Boomerangs, 2 Automatic Floor Shifters, 2 sets of disc brakes, and a Maverick dash board signed by Carol Shelby.

Good luck on y'all's adventure ... next Saturday, guys! (y)

Maybe I'll invite you guys NEXT time! Ha! :drink:

I SERIOUSLY doubt that you found any bucket seats in good shape.

Are you willing to part with that signed dash cap?

    :rofl2:

I don't really need any parts from these cars, except maybe a turn signal cam, if I can find one intact. These 5/6 in the big yard I know of are already pretty well cleaned out, unless you need doors, fenders, I think there is a decent hood on one of them, but the interior, has been gutted on most of them already. And of course, the good stuff, like grill emblems, valences, spoilers, etc are long gone. There is no way we would happen upon a rustfree grabber hood that we would want to fight over. There are a couple of small bumpers, but I already have a set, and so does fan2488, so there shouldn't be much of a fight.
