ive been reading that the flowmaster original 40 series muffler is a little loud inside the car and it is a 2 chamber muffler... what im wondering is, it couldn't be louder inside the car than a glasspack could it? i mean, a glasspack is a single chamber right? im wondering cause im thinking about getting a flowmaster to replace my glasspack this christmas time...

My experience with glasspacks and 40 series is they are both just as loud. I've had them both and I like the sound of the flowmaster better, but it in not any quieter.

I don't know about what it would sound on sixes, but I have the 40's on my Stang conv and Cougar htp. They sound great. I have the 50's on my Sprint Stang and they are a bit quieter inside. I currently have cherry bombs on my Cougar conv and they are just as loud as the 40's inside but not as good on the outside sound. They will be replaced by 40's soon. I am putting the 40's on my Sprint Mav. They are sweet to the ears.

thanks guys, thats what i wanted to hear.. i know the sound is definatly not the same, but the outside to inside noise ratio is probably the same on 8s and 6s...:)

I just had my single exhaust into a Thrush Turbo muffler replaced, by Dual exhaust with Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers. Yes it is much louder on the inside of the car. But it sounds great. This is on a 302V8.

My six has dual out headers with dual exhaust using Magnaflow turbo mufflers. If you want a loud sound at idle then these are not the mufflers for you. My exhaust runs all the way out the back of the car and from the front it is very quiet. At the back it has a nice throaty sound. It's fairly quite in the inside but does get noticably louder at about 50-60 mph, but not bad. :D

Same here. I agree with Dennis. glass packs have a good but loud sound but a 40-series will enhance the sound of ur engine alot better :burnout:

I ran my '74 Grabber with a straight pipe for a couple of days, it was the stock manifold with a piece of pipe that came down and basically was just sawed off about a foot back from the torque boxes. Sounded alright at idle and low RPM, but when you got out about 50-60 mph it was absolutely obnoxious, you had to yell to talk to the person sitting in the passenger seat. I did take videos of it, I'll post them on You Tube later.
