Hi! My name is Megan and I've had my Maverick for several months, have had no problems until a few days ago, I'm thinking there's a broken link somewhere involving my shifter- it's very loose and reverse is no longer working. any suggestions? I have a manual transmission, three on the tree, my shifter is very loose, and reverse is no longer working . while i was shifting from first to second gear, i heard a pop, seemed to be from my steering column, and then had problems shifting, could no longer find first gear. now reverse goes forward.- i'm pretty sure it's just a linkage break but not quite sure where to start with fixing it. I have the car shop manual, with some really helpful diagrams and such but would like some advice that's more on my level i guess

You will probably get more response on a question like this in our technical section. But that aside, can you tell me if it's an automatic or manual transmission?
