    hello guys!
    ok, here is the deal...
i'm going to buy a 76 mav' grabber clone, yep, just a clone.

it has a 302 in it, runs really strong, i tried it.
    same about the transmission.
the interior is ok, just need a little of work, but really nice.
need a new paint job (really tiny spot of rust behind the rear wheels and on the ruff on the driver side)
    the undercariage is nice too.
the guy is asking 3250 o.b.o. (and the guy seem really nice and ready to negociate)
so i said the guy "ok, i'll take it this week end"...

but here is what just arrived yesterday on craigslist:
    http://omaha.craigslist.org/cto/822788706.html

so i kind of don't know what to do now...

the point is i'm more attracted to the 76 because of the color (interior is blue, which i find much nicer than black) and the engine is a carb, which i kind of prefere too.
but i'll have to change the bumpers for the small ones.

Am I doing a huge mistake?
I'm gonna see the one on craiglist tonight, just to see the shape of the undercariage... that could be the only thing to make me really hesitate...

    What do you guys think?

The blue one is 2 grand cheaper... and the black car's price is "firm" according to the ad.

Maybe I'm biased, but I sure like that '75 better... Already got some of the more expensive mods done too, like the Trac-Loc, ratchet shifter, small bumper conversion. Got a roller block, which is nice. Have to say I like the colors too.

Consider the cost of adding a Trac-Loc, bumpers, and probably paint to that blue one too. Guess the question is do you want to spend the additional two grand now or later?

    Good point.

I wasn't being biased to one or the other.
Just pointing out the difference in price, and the one owners willingness to negotiate, vs the others firm price.

    thanks for your advices:)

so for you, the price is about right for both of those cars?
how much should i ask for the blue one?

facelessnumber: i'll have to paint the black one too since i don't like that color:p

what's the track-loc? (sorry, i'm a frenchy just moving in US, i still have to learn a huge amount of technical terms:clap: )

how much would the swap to small bumper cost?

arg! i was so sure to get the 76 one...
i guess i'll see the 75 tonight and either way be conforted in my choice or have to ask my girlfriend to choose for me:rofl2:

what a hard life... having to choose between 2 nice cars:D

ho, and thanks to the guy who created this forum: i already learned so much about mav'!(y)

Track-loc is a limited-slip differential. "Posi" as the GM folks say. Better traction, puts power to both wheels when they start to slip instead of just spinning out on one side like the stock Maverick rearend does.

i feel better know (scared to do the bad choice).
Thank you guys for your advices!

I like the 75 also. I would need to see more of the 76 to make an opinion. Good luck with it.:)

I think both cars were good choices either one had its good points and it's bad points, I keep thinking those seats and console in the blue one look like they came out of a 78 bronco I used to have.
Hey look at it this way you are one up on me either way, both have grabber hoods and I can't find one anywhere close to me. That and the Keystone rims look alot nicer than the cheap steel ones on the black Maverick
