Planning on picking up the conversion kit from Auto Krafters. Part# 1261 with the part# 40511 flamethrower coil. I think I can do this myself as I just rebuilt the distributor for my parts car and gapped the points on my project one. Will I need new wires or anything else not included with those products/kits? Is there anything really tough to look out for in the conversion? Does anyone have one of these?

I know there has been some confusing about which coil to use with which set up and what voltage to use. Or rather to use straight 12volts or use the resistive wire. Follow their directions to the letter or risk burning it up.
Many people have used them with no trouble for years but last year I saw people on about every car site I go to having trouble with burning them up because of the wrong voltage. Even knew a guy that put one on a 352 Ford engine and it burnt the coil up on his.

Anything tough? NO, just like it says, it's a 15 minute job(but for a first timer, it'll take at least 30 minutes). Two wires to hook up both to the coil.

I've run mine with both the resistive wire, and without, and it runs fine both ways. I think if you read the instructions, it will operate down to 8 volts which is less than the resistive wire was putting out on my car. Check the price on the parts at Summit (sometimes they are better than AK)
It's an easy swap, I did mine in about 15 minutes.

    Help me here guys.
I have a 1933 REO with an older 302 (I'm still trying to determine what year) and C4 (Cruise-O-matic). What is the best/least expensive way to upgrade from points? It used to be you could just buy a new plate with a magnetic proximity sensor.

A trip thru Summit or Jegs website will answer your question better than we can.
