just got my first Maverick, a 73. it has factory heat (as most did i believe) but not a/c..

so my question is about under-dash a/c units. is it as simple as having a working, old vintage under-dash a/c unit, installing it and then having cold air blowing at you? or is it not that simple.. and if not, what's the best route to go to keep cool here in central texas??

    Howdy and :Welcome:
Your best bet would be to buy an aftermarket set up. I have not found any kits specifically for a Maverick so some fabrication would be required. In a couple of months I am buying a kit and will post my results so stay tuned.

Being in Austin, you have to have ac... buy a second Mav or Comet that has it and enjoy :rofl2:
My plans are different but I agree with Mavaholic. Maybe get all the brackets and underhood stuff from a donar and find the under dash unit so you don't have to go into the dash.
I hope to have a small remote controlled window unit in my back seat when i'm done.
