I'm getting ready to go to a show this weekend so I went to WalMart to get some folding chairs....well I'm sitting at the stop sign in WalMarts parking lot getting ready to turn out into the street, I've got the car in neutral revving it a little so it doesn't get hot and I pull it drive and it chirps the tires......well I drive down the street and look in my mirror and a cop is behind me with his lights on, I pull over to the side thinking he's gonna pass me but he pulls over with me.......man my driving record is clean, I don't want a ticket so I'm thinking of what to tell him and he comes up to the car and says don't worry you didn't do anything I was just wondering what size cam you have........he said I heard you at WalMart and it sounded good.........:16suspect now that my buttcheeks have let go of the seats we start talking cars, he said he was building a 302 for a Mustang for his son and wanted something lopey but streetable in it. We actually hit it off good and we exchanged phone numbers and plan on going to the races this weekend........it's nice to have a cop as a friend I guess !
A big lump in the throat when that happens Glad to see you didn't get a ticket. You should have lit the tires up, maybe he would have been more impressed:evilsmile Just Kidding Good Story Mike
Next time, try to outrun him, so you don't have to waste your time small-talking with him...there are plenty of people to small-talk to here on the forum!!!
I'd say you have a lawsuit here. Misuse of government property .. possibly falsification of reports since I doubt he will log the incident. Waste of tax payers money and performing personal business while on the clock. Don't forget the pain and suffering because of the unnecessary stress this guy caused you. What would happen if a cop did this and the guy in the car shot him dead? He would never get caught since it car and tag were never called in.
I'd be happy not to get a ticket either ... but as a tax and law abiding citizen I see corruption and waste is running rampant through all levels of our government .... drives me nuts ... But then again ... I guess I shouldn't be surfing at work!
DM is right, this is 2005. It's a sorry world we live in isn't it! Did he leave a handprint on the decklid as he approached from behind, not beside the car as he should have been trained to do. Some here may know this, some not. Most academies and state patrols teach officeres to touch the rear of the decklid when approaching a vehicle to leave fingerprint in case you shoot them. Comforting thought if you are the cop, huh? Seth
I had a similar incident years ago. I was driving through town one day in a nice steady rain. A state cop comes up behind me and turns his lights on. Around here it's unusual for a stater to come into the city, they usually are on the interstates and back roads. We pull off on a side street and he starts asking about my Mav. Then he takes off his Smokey Bear hat and lays it on my trunk and crawls underneath my car! In the pouring rain! I hear him going on under there about my illegal air shocks, my illegal exhaust, etc. Back then Pennsylvania was very strict about no aftermarket parts allowed on suspensions and exhausts. I'm thinking fines and dollar signs $$$. He crawls back out from under my car, the whole one side of his uniform is soaked from laying in the street. I'm thinking more dollar signs $$$! He puts his hat back on, says "Drive carfully now.", and gets in his car and drives off! I'm just standing there in the rain wondering what the h3ll that was all about.
cops misusing their authority again......its cool taht he wanted to talk cars....but using his lights and all that.... oh well....i guess i am the only one that saw this take on it.... but...isnt there another way...like drive up next to you and say "Hey i like your car...pull over and lets talk...if you arent in a hurry"
I didn't really mind, I'm just wondering how to fix the hole in my seat that my butt chewed away.... The town I live in is fairly small and everyone is friendly. We only have about 12 Police cars here and we all wave at each other when we pass. I wouldn't report him, he could have been at the doughnut shop wasting tax payers money......
Cool story. In the little town I live in, we have 3 Police cars. Now that's a small town. I've heard they are a real bear, when it comes to the speed limit...I've lived here almost a year, so far so good...Can't say I've ever seen them pull anyone over. If they ever stopped me, I'm sure my butt cheeks would pucker....
