Well we made the 1 1/2 trip today and picked her up.

    It's a 69.5, 200, 3 manual .... FACTORY A/C !?!?

Here are some of the goods ....

The fact that it is a Factory A/C car was kinda cool. The York and lines are gone, but the mount, condenser and dryer are still there, and capped off with plastic plugs.

Very little rust (drivers door, small holes in quarters, and a spot on either side of the hood hinges) Easy fixes !!

    Overall pretty sold survivor.

    The Bads ....

The front seat is WASTED. Besides the upholstery, seem like the springs, are sprung. Dash is cracked. Radio bezel is gone.

It needs a carb "re-rebuild", as the shadetree did not know WTF he was doing, as well as some timing adjustments. Just an overall once over/tune up.

Most upsetting of it all, is all the OG green paint was sanded to metal (no bondo) and primered with WalMart primer rattle can :bs:

Really wish the OG paint was still around ...

Shifter is on the floor now, but seems to shift good, mechanical clutch feels good, and doesn't leak a drop of oil.

The engine seem to have good compression, just way out of tune.

Overall, I am really happy about the score ... I got rid of a worse project, and got a Maverick that I always wanted.

A few dings here and there, but overall great shape, condsidering its 44 years old.

One owner pink slip, 2nd guy never registered it.

    Here are some pics ......

The wheels are really not my style, but I did get the stock wheels and caps. These 4-lug centerlines might be for sale soon. ;)

Factory A/C is KOOL !! I can always retro fit a universal VintageAIR/Classic air sytem to work with stock controls. (If I cant get stock system to work. Did a T-bird and Cougar at my shop recently...

    Thanks !!

My plans for this are NOT to do what I always do with my other projects (take them apart until im ready) I have too many like that.

First off is to compression test the 200, and tune it to run RIGHT, and get the best mileage possible.

Double check the dudes "brake job" ... and address the sloppy steering.

Repair the ROT and prime areas, until ready for a complete job.

The SEAT is most important, the springs are gone, so might have to swap those out, I will see what my upholstery guys says. I need the bench seat to be PERFECT !! ANY IDEAS ??

    Down the ROAD:

Pick up my FREE 1990 5.0HO Mark VII engine, and slooowly collect parts for the swap.....

Then, AND ONLY THEN, will the Mav be diassembled.

    More pics soon !!

Good starting point - dash cracked is common - radio bezel is an easy find - looks like you will have to weld in some metal on the door - the Walmart rattle can primer will have to be stripped back down to bare metal before any real automotive paint can be applied - painters shutter when you mention rattle cans

How's the rear seat? I have a cherry rear seat from a 71 Comet. I might also have a driver door with no rust, but needs filler work. Since you are a new member I'll give you a killer deal. FREE FREE. I also have a beat up front bench seat that is in my way with good headrests. Also free but you must take it all. Might have a radio bezel floating around too, but I think I actually paid $20 for it. So you can have it for what I paid for it if you want it. All items are in Hayward.
