I've done my research on the forum and here's what I come up with...

    1. Door panels must be removed (http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=3150)
    2. Windows do not have to be removed, but may make life easier (http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=7351&highlight=door+glass)
    3. Fuzzy round piece goes on the inside lip of the door
    4. Check the window/door mechanicals - lube and/or tighten as needed
    5. Check /clear the door drain holes

Does anyone have more details instructions or other pointers - preferably with photos for any of the tricky parts?

For instance: how do you get the old fuzzies off (without tearing up anything important) and new ones on?

    Thx...

You do not have to remove the door panel to replace the belt line weather stripping.
You do need to roll the window down though.
You can remove the old ones useing a thin blade standard screwdriver and a putty knife. Insert putty knife between door edge and fuzzy.Insert screwdriver between putty knife and fuzzy...Fish around till you find a clip and pry against the putty knife till the fuzzy pops loose. Do this starting at one end and work your way to the other.
It is easier to do if the glass is out of the door but not necessary. The putty knife keeps you from scratching the paint on your doors. The proceedure is the same for both inner and outer weather strips.Just be gentle so you dont chip your glass or paint...It wont require alot of force to pop em out. Have fun!!!
