    Hi all
I have found what appears to be a sprint for sale  but I want confirmation before I buy. How can you tell if the car is really a sprint? It has the two tone blue and white paint with blue and white interior (with red out line) but is there a number in its VIN that signifies a Sprint? How rare are the sprints? Is it worth 2500 to have one? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Somebody will jump in ... but the interior code on the door tag should be RB ... that's a Sprint.

Dan is correct, RB Trim code is the only way to tell for sure. The VIN will look like just any other standard '72 Maverick.

Not true. You can get a Marti report and that will tell you. Especially if the door data tag is missing. Some people sand them off on a repaint.

as far as wether it's worth $2500 or not, only you can decide that. depends on the condition of the vehicle. i got mine for $800 running, no rust, but it does need a complete restoration. some people would say $2500 is a great price. i would say it's a great price if you think it is. they are getting harder to find. good luck.:)

the sprint is probably the rarest of the maverick breeds, but I wouldnt pay that much if its a bucket

Good idea!! Add that to the list:
1 water in jug. (to check for leaks) $1.00
2 Magnets (to see how much filler is in the 1/4's) $1.00
    3 Cash (self explanitory) $2500.00
4 Huge smile if it is what it appears to be!!!!!!!!! PRICE LESS
I have been burned so many times on these cars you'd think I would learn not to get my hopes up. Oh well hope springs eternal!!
    Thanks again guys!

Well, I know that, but I kind of figgured he wanted to just go look at the car again and figgure out for sure that it was a Sprint on the spot before he buys it.

Yea, thats exactly right. Marti reports are nothing new to me. Paying for a Marti report, and waiting 2-3 weeks to get it just dosen't make much sense for a car you don't even own and might already be sold by time you get the report.

I guess I should have said, "the only way to tell on the spot"...

Good luck!!!! I got mine with a 250 cu in & 3 speed on the floor. Good runner. Pretty good shape, for $950. I ended up parting with it, for a paint job on my Comet...

I think for a fee Marti can do a quickie report and verify via phone or fax ... I'm sure lots of folks do that ... put a down payment on a car with the understanding that the down payment is refundable if the car doesn't check out with Marti ...
