Check out auction number 280342816736. Ended on 5/18. I don't know anything about collecting Hotwheels but I do know you could buy a real Maverick parts car for $760. It said it was rare because it had a black roof.

Wow that's crazy, too much. It would seem that the Hotwheels Mighty Maverick is rapidly starting to become the most expensive Hotwheels out there in general. I just wish they would make a new version of the Maverick or maybe a Comet, i think people would buy it if you made it good enough.

Early redlines have a pretty big collector base ... it was the first four years that Hot Wheels were made. They were made better then too ... better detail, moving hoods, polished body covered in candy paint. $1 toy back then would sell for more like $5 in today's dollars.

It is a lot like collecting coins ... condition and odd details can greatly affect a selling price.

This one looks to be in excellent shape in the picture, but without the black roof, the price would have been likely less than half ... I am thinking $250-300.

that's sad. you can get one that you can drive for less than that. I got my running 77 for 500 and im going to buy a daily driver 76 comet for 750. OR i could add 10 dollars more and get a HOT WHEELS... bull f'in sh!+. not for me. I just traded a guy whos obsessed with hot wheels a few cars for a xbox 360 game. if i had one of those id trade him for his whole 360 setup. like i said. not for me.

ah ...but,weedhopper ... you were not 8 years old when Hot Wheels first made their big plash. ...furthermore ... you are not now approaching 50 years old, with waaaaaaaayyyyy too much extra cash, and trying to regain that spark of childhood ...

Let's just say that I don't condone the crazy prices, but I fully understand them.
