Never had this problem before, but for some reason, my inner heater hose wants to lay right along the top of the rear header tube.

    Anyone ever had this issue?

    Suggested fix?

Maybe a couple of 12" straight aluminum tubes between heater core along header area, then back to rubber hose?

i zip-tied both hoses together and then both to my export brace!

I bought a NOS set of pre-bent steel tubes, from Ebay a while back, that were designed to mount to the intake manifold and carry the heater hoses from the fireawall to the front of the engine. I'm not sure what the application was but I just know they were for a Ford :)

I have no export brace or monte carlo bar anymore, so that won't work.

Sounds like the metal tubing is the way to go.

Don, I will continue discussion with you via PM for details.

I haven't put anything together yet but I did keep the metal tubes that ran along the intake from the Bronco my engine came out of. I was hoping they would help keep things neat and tidy when it was all together. The Bronco was a 94 just for reference. You could always make a bracket and bolt it to the valve cover bolt to hold them up but that may create a situation where the bole loosens up and causes leaks.

Make the hoses longer and pin them back up against the shock tower with a couple of rubber lined clamps. Not sure if that would work in a V-8 application or not but it's a thought.

Scooper has no shock towers. He has a Rod & Custom Mustang II "TYPE" suspension.

    Sharp looking engine compartment, BTW!:tiphat:

I did this, but when it finally was short enough to keep it off the header tube, it now sits ON the valve cover so I would have to remove the hose first to take the valve cover off.

The bracket under a couple of valve cover bolts might be a promising idea, as well...

Mine are zip tied together, and if I need to pull the valve cover it's easy.

Why not get hoses bent on the ends and run it in the valley on top between the intake and the valve cover?

Hmmm. That would look clean. I need to go back out and see if I can make that work. Maybe a couple of ells and it would work fine.

I can't remember which vehicles it was that I have seen them routed that way on. I have seen them in rubber hoses and aluminum tubing. The tubing seems to not take as much space but would require more clamps being that they would be made up. The ones I seen were factory so they were crimped and molded. Seems at the firewall they were more of an S shape also.

I did the route over the intake under the carb then between the trans tube and valve cover with an L right there into firewall. Nice clean look that nearly hides the hose.

    Thanks for suggestions!
