So I was going to retro-fit some Strange brakes but it looks like that's going to have to be put on hold for now, so I want to put the best brake shoes I can on my car (4 wheel drum). Does anyone know if Hawk makes brake shoes for Mavericks?

Just get new ones from Autozone, PepBoys, Kragen...they all will work fine. I got cheapie drums all around for now until I get some new disc brakes up front. Mine work fine, but I'm only going 122 in the 1/4. As long as they are new and set up right they should work fine.

Listen to Erick! He knows what he is talking about...That Mav runs!

LOL, on another note, I got articles where 3000lb plus cars are running 150+ w/ drum brakes. They work. You just got to set them up right. My last car was running 125+ @ 3800lbs w/ stock drum brakes...

I have always been a Raybestos fan myself.

If you need more brakes at the end of you run use Raybestos semi-metalic linings, wheel cylinders from a '73 (larger than 74) and the smaller Master cylinder from the '74. You get a 12% increase in breaking force with the same pedal effort. As those semi-metalic linings heat up they just work better. I have used them on circle track with no fading problems on the 3/8 mile tri-oval. I wasn't running a Maverick back then it was a Falcon SW. I had a 200 inch 6 and C4 in that 62 Falcon.

There is no diffrence between 72, 73 or 74 wheel cylinders. I personally have had all three of those years wheel cylinders on my car and have take them apart. They are identical.
