Neal, Good to hear from you...haven't seen many posts from you lately. I know how it goes. I've been completely covered up lately as usual. Breakfast sounds cool! I'll try and get ahold of you tomorrow, or you can try and reach me if you like. Cell is 270-724-1242. I should be around in the morning. John Ford had said a couple of weeks ago that he was going to try and go to Sturgis for the bike rally, and that he may stop in Henderson on the way through. I PM'd him with my cell. Don't know if he will get it in time or not. If he calls, I'm going to try and meet him for a while. If not, I'll meet him at the RoundUp! I made reservations the other day. Finally going to be able to make it. I'm on vacation right now! Only place I'm going is to the RoundUp. Too much other stuff to try and get done! Looking forward to the down time. I think I'm only going to be able to stay Thursday and Friday night. I made reservations for Saturday also, just in case, but I don't think I'm going to be able to stay. How about you? Are you going to be able to make it up this year? I think I'm going to try and tow the '71 that I got from Old Guy (Dave H) up with me. It's still in it's "before" stage. Maybe by next year, it will be closer to it's "after" stage! It's got a long way to go though. Oh well, they all start somewhere. It's in my garage, and it's not eating anything! You can take a look at it and see what you think. Later, T Stone
Hey Tom it was really nice meeting you today. And it looks like your yellow car has alot of potential. It was nice to finally put a face to the name, and I will have to say I can't wait to do it again. you will have to let me know when you get the Drag car going again and where you are going to be so I can come check you out at the track. Hey and let me know sometime when you are going wouldn't mind just going out to the track and hangin out a bit, and maybe even seeing your daughter run the JR. dragster... Well man we will have to do that again soon... Oh yeah just wondering how you came up with Maxx Levell.... Have a good one man. Neal
Neal, Hey man, it was a blast! My girls really liked your car...they always tell me that mine are ugly !! A friend of mine also drove by while you were here and asked about your car last night at the ballgame. He said that was about the nicest Maverick he had ever seen. It is nice to put a face to a name! I also now wish I had the drag car put back together too! What started out as a small project snowballed into a major ordeal. I guess it's time to get out there and put it all back together and get some more passes out of it. I'm really looking forward to attending the RoundUp and checking out all of the nice rides there. I'm hoping that it will shame me into returning and getting to work on the yellow car! I'll just have to MAKE the time! I'm at the races nearly every weekend! Let me know sometime if you want to ride up. I may even make it to Chandler sometime later in the season. That would be much closer for you! Shoot...it's closer for me! You're welcome to go with me any time you want! In fact, I'd welcome the new company! You may even decide you want to take yours down the track! Has your wife ever been to a dragstrip? Mine has been with me before, but she hates it! But I think that all she sees is how much money I've spent. She get's no part of the competition side of things, or the satisfaction of picking up a couple of hundreths through tuning! Oh well, maybe it's for the best. Let's see...how did I come up with Maxx Levell? Well, that's a long story dating back to the early '80's. I graduated High School in '85, so my friends and I were all attending junior high and high school during the MTV heyday. Music videos were a brand new HOT thing! And MTV actually played them at the time! A couple of my buddies decided that they wanted to start a band. They talked me into becoming the drummer. I actually was a drummer, and had been playing them for a few years. They were actually pretty good on guitars, and we got another friend who had been taking piano lessons since he was 6. In all actuality, we weren't bad. We mostly played covers of other groups who were popular at the time, but we came up with a couple of songs of our own. We played mostly parties and stuff. You know, whoever would let us play. My friends were always on me about having to have a cool name. They were convinced that we couldn't use our real names in a rock band! Anyway, for the life of me, I couldn't come up with a fictitious name and they were hounding me pretty good. One day, we were driving down the road having this conversation. They were insisting that I come up with something! I was driving a '76 Monza at the time that had a little v-8 and 4-speed from the factory. I was looking at the dash at a stop light, listening to my friend blather on about a name, and there was a sticker on the dash that said "Warning: do not fill beyond max level". I looked at it...looked at him, and said "what about max level?" He said it sounded cool enough to be a drummer in a rock band, so that was it. I added another x and another L to be different, and the rest is history, just like our dream of a rock band. I never did tell the guys how I came up with the name. When I first went online in the early 90's, I needed a screen name. I figured since I had listened to so much crap over choosing that name, I might as well use it for something! Been using it ever since. Now Maxx Levell is known around the world! (well, my little, small, and insignificant world!! ) I would venture to say, that people are much more likely to recognize the name from this Maverick message board and other message boards than they are to recognize it from my lofty days as a Rock Star!!!! Take Care Man, Looking forward to meeting up with you again soon. I'm also sending you a PM, so check your box.
