Hi guys, I found a post in Craigslist for some Maverick seats so I jumped on them because they look decent and ....I have no seats. Guy said they were Maverick seats but he didn't know what year. They are pretty clean. It have some seams splitting but no biggie I'll have them recovered someday if they work. Can you guys ID these seats? http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums...7-C523-4170-8D65-0B7731A0211C_zpswaimjcoh.jpg http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums...4-4371-4DED-8C70-2BFDF9ECBA57_zpstimxrj42.jpg http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums...A-16B5-44E6-B42B-CFE3B4A3FC86_zpszkuomqhr.jpg
They appear to be the same seats that are in my Stallion which is a 76 and probably the only Maverick that had black bucket seats, passenger side seat will have tracks on it for catalytic converter so will have to be adapted to fit a 73 if that is the car you will be putting them in
Darn, I hope these seats bolt in. My car is a 73 Comet and I have seat rails that work but I think you are right, one of these seats leans when sitting flat on the driveway without rails under them. That is due to a different floor board with cat cars? I thought they were black in the picture on Craigslist too but they are actually blue.
The bucket seats that are made for Mavs with catalytic converters have a passenger seat that is lop-sided ... the inboard seat track is a couple inches higher than the outboard side. The seat tracks that come with those seats are identical to LDO seat tracks, except for that odd inboard one. That one is adapted to mount on top of the cat hump, and is a bit longer. I did figure out that it could be reconfigured to work just like the standard LDO track by drilling the rivets out and remounting that front leg a bit further back if needed. You say you have seat rails that work. Are they earlier LDO? These would be the Maverick seat tracks that do not have extra height built in. If so, you could make these seats work if you fabbed some blocks to go between the short side of the passenger seat and that seat track when using it in a early car like yours. The same goes if these seats came with the tracks, too. Do you also have the extra risers that go under the inboard seat tracks? Here is a tech article I did about the very late seat tracks .... http://mmb.maverick.to/resources/cat-hump-bucket-seat-tracks.128/ After looking at the article, wanted to give you a heads-up. The bolt pattern on that passenger seat may not be rectangular. Almost all other Ford seats for a couple decades had a pattern that IIRC, is 13x14 inches. You may need to redrill the front mount and perhaps weld a nut inside the frame to get other Ford tracks to line up.
Thank you Captain! The project is down the road a ways for me but I will come back to this thread when Im ready to install seats.
