I am now retired and really want to build a street rod. With limited cash, the Ford Maverick makes a great deal of sense. I have managed to buy a nice 71' with a 250 CID I-6. It is straight and extremely solid. It will start to come apart pretty soon. I will be using a 302 stroked to 337 as it presents the least physical hassles, and at my age, who needs problems. The goal here is 11.99 e.t. in the quarter mile while being street legal under PA's limited usage vehicle law. Old guys are still allowed to dream. I am very impressed with the knowledge and friendliness displayed in these forums. I looked at great number of potential project cars. While, I admit to having a fondness for the Maverick, the content of these forums went a long way to sealing the the deal. A lot of members here have shared much valuable information. I am sure that I will be asking a lot of questions, and I thank you in advance for your help. I have worked on, built, and raced a number of cars over the years, and I hope that I can also be a little help to other members as well. David

Thanks For the Welcome Hello Again, It is nice to be here, and strange that the first reply I get is from "Mavaholick," who quotes Ronnie Sox. That would be of "Sox and Martin" out of North Carolina. I saw them first when I was eighteen in a cow pasture drag strip at night where you could almost walk up to the track's edge and the lighting stunk. I was going to Duke then - flunked out. They were running a 1962 Chevy Impala SS with a 427 derived from the famous old 409 which was originally a truck engine. It was all quite exciting way back then in the early sixties. "Mavaholick," Thanks for the memories and, also, to all of the rest of you nice enough to reply and welcome me. Regards, David
