heatercore replacement

    can anyone tell me how diificult it is to change the heater core on my 70 maverick non a/c car

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    Pretty darn easy. Just pop off the "clips" around the heater box and take that part of the heater box off. Easy access to the heater core from there.

    excellent thanks i coudnt imgaine it being that hard but before i dove into it i figured i,d check looks like the package tray needs to come out wich is no big deal really

    if the tray is integral to stereos and other mods, as mine is, ya can flex it just enough to do the job if ya take out the 2 or the attaching bolts at far rightend.

    make sure to replace hoses while it's apart, and i really wish i had put some gasket shelak on that one pipe nipple WAY in the back (the one ya can't see). that one still weeps a bit from time to time.

    remember heater cores are FRAGILE. Ya probably know that but someone in the great wide world might not.

    I think it is also easier to remove the front seat(s) but some
    of the skinnier folks may not need to do that.
