My headliner is original and intact with no rips but really dirty. What's the best way to clean it? Carpet cleaner?

How dirty is it? Post a picture.

I would say a headliner would be very difficult to "clean". You could spray dye it.

Marie Clean, from POR 15 is amazing stuff. Just remember to dilute it.

It would be a delicate task for sure. Being origional I bet it would tear easy. I would try and find a soft longish bristle brush and a misting bottle. Mist it with water and very little tuff stuff mixed in the water. Then use a gentle vacuum with little to no pressure applied. I can see it taking however you do it.
How is the black dirty? :hmmm:

I just dyed mine black, from the original Grey Gold.

Prior to dying it, I did clean it with Simple Green, cut half with water, and that did a decent job at cleaning it up. I was very careful around the stitching, and used a soft toothbrush to get into the deeper parts there. Other than that, I used a soft cloth.

My main goal was degreasing it prior to dying it, but it did come out quite clean and it was a bit dirty.
