hi everyone this is my second post i have a 73 mavrick it has a 200 engine. the problem i'm having is the exhaust donnut keep burning out i would like to but a header on, or is this a good idea if so do anyone have one for sale. thanks. excuse the spelling.
nope, Autokrafters says its for a 250. Checkout www.cliffordperformance.com lots of inline stuff there.
I would remove the exhaust manifold and inspect the opening. Make sure it is clean and smooth where the donut gasket seals. Them inspect the exhaust pipe for the same. Lastly, your problem could be due to the collar on the exhaust pipe not being pulled up tight enough. Run a die over the threads on the studs and make sure they are clean. Also make sure there are enough threads to pull it up close. These manifolds are also prone to eating the gasket that seals it to the head. While its off, take it to a machine shop and have them run it on a table sander to true up the mounting surface. Last one I had done only cost $5 for the guy to do it. When you put it all back together, put a little antisieze on the threads. This should take care of your leaks.
from what i hear clifford stuff don't work very well and customer support sucks. try a header from pacemaker or FSPP.. much better fit from what i hear. you can check it out at http://cquesttechnologies.com/fspp/categories.asp?cat=50
