Can someone let me know what header will fit a 70 Mav... Any header, long short, right now with column shifter. I will be installing conversion V-8 and want to know what header will fit now. I know the other headers are being made... but cannot wait for them. What header will fit with minimal mods.
I have Hooker Headers. No moods needed. http://www.holley.com/search.asp Super Comp. Header 6110HKR Super Comp. Ceramic Header 6110-1HKR you can buy this at a Competition Sales store @ www.competitionsales.com
Thanks. Which model do you have and do you also have a column shifter. Are they the 6110's you have listed. I am installing a 302.
Not sure if the 6110s fit...most of us use the 6901s with no problems, except the hassle of installation. 19Maverick72...what is your setup? shock towers cut? How hard were those to fit in there? What part of houston are you in, I might like to take a look at those and see how well they fit. Mine are tight in a couple of areas, but went in...
I have gt-40 aluminum heads, did not cut the shock towers, hard to fit but they fit. do you have hookers? I live by the Intercontinental air port. 6110's are made to fit in the ford maverick 70-77 with a 302 engine. http://www.holley.com/BrowseCatalogs.asp?Catalog=Hooker&Page=16 look at this link and look for Maverick (302 1971-1977). you are more than welcome to see my car, I would like to see yours.
Well, it has been pretty well established that the 6901s will NOT fit a column shift car. I guess I missed that part. So the 6110s fit around the column shifter? How about the power steering, do you still need the drop bracket? If so, I just put the drop bracket on the for sale forum...

Yes... the key is column shift. Also Scooper, I notice you have 40P heads. Do you feel like you are utilizing them with the cam you currently have. Could you tell any difference when you installed them. I just bought a set and wondering if I shoudl use them. This will also throw a monkey wrench in the header selection, but you say you have the 6901's and they fit the P heads without issue?
I'm thinking. If the headers wouldn't fit a column shift, I think it would say under Engine specifications?
HELL NO! I swapped the cam when I had stock heads and it worked well, then found the heads cheap and am now kicking myself for not overcamming the original heads. Completely different car when I got done. They really are amazing heads for iron heads, and for the money. I paid $300 for the pair, with lifters and springs, just bolted them on, and I would not be amazed if I picked up 50-75 HP. Sound amazing, feels even more amazing. Um, not necessarily "without" issue...they bolt right up, and ports match. No problems there. The problem is that the driver side spark plug tips end up right on the center of the inside of the tubes, so you have to use shorty plugs, 90 degree boots, and it helps to have a spacer between the head and header. I have a gasket, spare header flange, and another gasket to give me clearance. Then you need to remove to the header on that side to ever swap plugs or pull the wires. I have figured it out so it doesn't take too long, and will never go back unless I upgrade to AFR aluminum heads. And if you keep picking on me, I will do another cam swap soon...one that will utilize my heads, headers, intake, and gears.

Oh yeah, the P heads will have this same issue with ALL headers, unless they are made specifically to fit the P heads. There are some out there, but they are WAY pricey.
