We haven't received our repair manual yet, and I haven't been able to find anything about this problem browsing.

To get our 69.5 to start, we have to lift up on the gear shift lever and then turn the key to start the car.

Is there some sort of bushing in the column that might cause this? We haven't tried taking the thing apart yet to investigate.

Anybody run into this sort of problem before?

    Any heads up is appreciated!

Sounds like you need to adjust the neutral safety switch. I believe it is mounted on the column under the dash on a 69.5

    Thanks For The Heads Up

    Thanks for the help.

Now that I think about it. I think I had the same problem once with my old 91 F250.

    We'll start with the switch.......
