harmonic balancer came apart can it be put back together?

    i have the 250 no A/c nothing special fuel or performance wise.harmonic balencer came apart (outer ring completely separated from inner rubber ring).i pushed the 2 back together on the brake press i know the timing mark and everything are way off now but do i have to worry about it flying off while driving on the freeway? if so where do i get one?thanks

    yup, get a new one. it'll come apart again.... it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when". ive seen a few floating around on ebay, or post an ad in the 'wanted' section for one. there's plenty of 250 engines out there that people are willing to sell parts off of

    Get a new one. If it comes off, it makes a big mess.

    agreed,,, could kill you!

    You can have it rebuilt by a pro,,, NOT the cheapest route

    1966 Mustang, 1972, 73, 73 and 73 Mavericks
    It takes a new rubber bushing and a special fixture to "put them back together" and they can do a lot of damage when they come off. You can get after market ones if you like to spend a lot of money but a used one in good condition will serve well.
