    Hey Guys,

I was in Harbor Freight the other day and they had one of their stud welder/dent repair combos on sale for $89. Well, since I'm by no means a body and paint man (the only way I could knock a dent out properly is if that's the body man's nickname    !) I decided to get one.

I've had it sitting in the garage for about a week now and have just been waiting for a chance to try it out. Today, I had a few minutes extra so I sanded the paint off of a small dent on a fender of the '71 I bought a couple of months ago from Old Guy and gave it a try. I am truly impressed with the results. I welded about 3 studs around the dent and applied the slide hammer and went to town. It almost looks like I got the first dent out pretty good! I still have some work left on them, but for the first try, my results were pretty dramatic. I went slow like I've been told to do, and didn't get too carried away with the force that I used. I think that it's giong to work out pretty well.

I think that I can get the dents out good enough that a light skim coat of body filler should be all that it takes to make it look "right".

Who knows...the thing may not last me 6 months, but for now, I'm impressed with the results.

I'll try and take some pics the next time that I get a chance to play with it and post them here. I don't know how good a pic I can get of a dent though.

If you've got some dents to fix, I would recommend spending the $100 bucks and getting one of these. Beats the alternative.

    Later,

They might as well have a cover charge....because I spend money everytime I'm in there. You have to be careful with some of their stuff, but for no more than I use most of it, it's usually fine for me.
