How do I find out if my Comet is GT or not? I've read some other posts, but I can't seem to find the answer!
    Thanks,
    Lika

those are just the bolt on's, and also includes sport mirrors.... but if some or all of those items are missing then you would need to find either: 1. build sheet; 2. Marti report; 3. some factory striping and/or marks :)

    Ok

    This makes it more clear!

    :tiphat:

So, if it's not a GT, could I make it look like a 'GT' by replacing the Grill,Bucket seats, Scoop, sport mirrors, and adding some special stripes?

They sell the stripe kit, and you can buy the scoop aftermarket.

Grilles are bit hard to find in GT form, or even standard for the Comet. Sport mirrors can be had also, but are somewhat a hard to find item.

you can use mustang II sport mirrors and 90% of the people wont know any better. That and you can get them fairly cheap compared to finding maverick/comet sport mirrors.

I can't tell what that picture is of really. To small but by the name of it, looks like a scoop.

Those aren't correct GT scoops. A GT scoop looks like the one in this picture:

First picture is for a Grabber hood. Its the scoop inserts.

The second is a GT scoop

Yes you could make it look like one you just would not be able to sell it as one. A few weeks ago I tore down a regular 302 V8 car and also a GT car, and noticed lots of differences between the two well beyond the Grill, hood scoop, mirrors, shifter and buckets.

Mine has a V8 and sport mirrors and 5 lugs but it is not a GT.
My grill was argent-not blacked out, my tail panel is body color-not blacked out, mine had a bench seat-not buckets, mine had no stripes or scoop. I think GTs had tougher suspension too.
GT Comet is a really attractive package. Especially in white or red.

I forgot about the tail light panel being blacked out.

As far as I know they had the same suspension as any other Comet or Maverick.

The Comet GT I had air conditioning, power steering, manual drum brakes, 302 and floorshift automatic.

Having a 302 doesnt make it a GT either

Nope. Plenty of I-6 GTs and Grabbers.
