Everywhere I read about the changes to the Maverick over its lifespan, there is a comment that the Grill was changed in 1976 to a split grill.

However, my 76 has a single piece grill.

Were there different designs in 76?

I have noticed when ordering parts, some parts are for "To" 2/3/76 and some are "From" 2/3/76, such as the Stabilizer links.

The split grille as you call it is really a one-piece unit (like all the others) with a vertical plastic part bolted in the center making it appear as two. This part could have either been broken or removed, or a grille from an earlier car substituted sometime in it's life.
