my wife and i went to old town car show saturday night and a strange and funny thing happened. at the end of this weekly show the cars line up for a slow criuse thru the streets of old town and the spectators line both sides of the street to see the cars. well appx 1/2 hour before we were supposed to line up a young man wearing a marines hat approached us and asked if we had someone riding in the passenger seat. i figured he wanted to ride along. WRONG what he wanted was a little help to surprise his girlfriend with a porposal to marry him. he had made a banner he wanted my wife to hold out the window of the mav as we approached him during the criuse. it read in big letters "WILL YOU MARRY ME" . i was honored to help this young man out and as we aproached she saw the sign, he hit his knee and a ring appeared. he is now engaged and the whole cruise stopped for a moment and the crowd cheered as this young marine started a life with his love. as a side note he said he wanted to propose to her before he shipped out to Iraq in 2 weeks. what a great way to end the night. on a side note i also met a new mav owner with a nice 72 2 door and we got to exchange contact info. Whether you support the war or not it touches my heart to see a brave young man just starting life out with his love in such an honorable way. SEMPER FIE young man go get em!!!
I took the family to Orlando back in the 90's and went to a couple of the shows/cruises at Old Town while I was there. What a great time I had. I remember seeing a black small bumper 2 door Maverick there. I never saw anyone around the car to talk to. The rest of the family wanted to do stupid things like go to Disney, Universal & Sea World. Who can figure?
Thank you I want to say thank you. I am a marine just got out. It is really nice to see people out there that truly believes in us.
