I know that quite a lot has been posted on this subject, but I don't think anyone has ever said anything about this. I am converting my '73 to Granada spindles. I have read that you must use Granada outer tie rod ends to do this swap. I'm also swapping in a standard steering pitman arm and centre link. Will there be any problem with doing both (the granada spindles + the standard steering pieces)? What idler arm do I use? Can I use the stock '73 Mav piece? Finally, I'm planning to use 1999 - 2001 Mustang dual piston calipers as per the following link. Has anyone had any experience with this conversion? Feedback appreciated. http://www.woodyg.com/fairlane/finfo/discs66.html Also wondering if anyone has any feedback on using the stock 6 cylinder coils that came with this car now that it's getting a V8? Should I swap to V8 coils? If so, do I want to use the ones for A/C cars (presumably stiffer?) if I want to improve handling? Finally, what's the hot ticket in front shocks these days? I don't mind firm in favour of handling. Thanks for any and all responses. John B
You can use all the standard Maverick steering, the Granada tie rods will screw into the adjusters. When I did mine, I just used the 73 Maverick ones, they fit the spindle fine. For coils, I'd use some v8 springs, even some from a early Mustang, they fit. If you are going to use bigger wheels, you don't want them to rub the fenders while cornering. Same for front shocks, same as Mustang, so there are all kinds of choices.
