bought 2 of thier aluminum radiators, one for each car. got the first one in the 73 and it is cooling that 302 like it has ice cubes in the cooling tanks. Car has a 165 thermostat and at highway speeds with a 50/50 prestone mixture the temp gauge takes 15-20 minutes running at idle to get to 165, then at highway speeds the Champion radiator and the stock mechanical fan takes the temp right down to 150 -155 and NEVER over 160 even in traffic when it was 90 degrees outside. Way to go Chapimon cooling and Jimmy2Gates One side note. On the 73 I did have to grind/cut the cross member just a tiny bit, took about 10 minutes with an angle grinder/cuttoff wheel. on the 72 the same radiator went in with room to spare. Human element on the assembly line I guess??? I still love the look and the cooling ability. I also am still waiting on the order for the correct hoses for the 72 since it is a 200 six cyl. and the radiator has V8 1-1/2 inlet and outlet the stock hoses for a 6 cyl or stock V8 hoses won't work. But that's ok because I will be blasting the A/C in traffic when it is 95 outside and sitting in traffic and my little 200 six cyl will be cooler than an ice sickle
I bought The Champion Radiator also 180 thermo sticks right at 170-180 at thermo area, and around 100 at radiator. Great unit!!
Sounds like they do the job. My suggestion though is to get rid of that 165 stat. Thats too cold. If the rad is that efficient a 180 or 195 would be a lot better for the engine. The temp should stay around the 180-200 mark and your doing the engine a huge favor. Engine wear increases more than most people would ever realize at that 165 mark and lower. http://www.carnut.com/ramblin/cool3.html Some good info on this page. Not trying to be a know it all just some good info I learned a long time ago.
