Well I finally got around to taking some pics of my car after 8 months of owning it lol....First off it's a 1974 with stock LDO package...Car had a 1965 170 6 in it with a c4 when i first bought it...After using the 170 for a little while I decided i needed just a little bit more power...I was able to get a 78 granada with 250/c4 combo for $100 which I used as the donor for my car...So now my car is sportin a 78 250/C4 with a 2Barrel Holley/Webber and Stovebolt adapter...I'm also running an Accel Super Stock ignition coil and 9mm Ford Racing Wires...Rear end is an 8inch with 3:00 gears in it...Front end was lowered cutting two coils off the stock coils and i'm running 245/50 16 tires with 16x7's with 3 3/4" backspacing(I think, might be 4")...Still haven't had a chance to clean up the interior like it needs to be, so please excuse the dirty interior..Future plans are to order a Boss 429 scoop, paint the hood satin black, and get started on the body work...Off to the pics...More pics can be seen here ..Let me know what you think http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b51/joshyx/1974%20maverick/
Like the stance. That carb sure sits high. Waddaya gonna do when it rains? I'd dump the Stovebolt adapter and make a flat plate. I was gonna do the same carb swap on mine. Glad I saw yours first.
Josh, Something about the vibe I get from your car that I really like. It is unique ... keep it up. If driving in the rain is a concern, I have the answer. (it never rains in CA according to that old song ... were they lying? ... ) Living in FL, we get monsoonal rains with very little warning. Driving with a cut hood, even though it it was covered by a Mach 1 style scoop (white Comet below) still meant that I was stuck by the side of the road with wet ignition four times one summer. The rain would run into the scoop along the surface of the hood and get the distributor wet. My solution then was to change over to a snorkel scoop (hey, it was the 80s, they were popular ... ). It did live up to its name and worked well. It was a bit hard to see around it ... When I did the scoop on the green Comet, I built a lip around the opening cut for the air filter. It is made from aluminum C channel and rises about a half inch from the surface of the hood. It acts as a dam, and rain running across the hood can't fall into the opening. It works really well with this scoop which is a mid-80s Mustang GT unit. I may switch to a Comet GT scoop which is an inch taller and fits our hoods better than the one I have. You might find that Boss 429 scoop a bit tall. Then again, on your car, it might be perfect. I don't think you are going for "subtle".
i just noticed your exhaust system lol how does that sound on a 6? if wet wether driving was a concern maybe a cowl scoop might be a better option too?
looks good. the same rims came on my sprint. I may eventually put them on my 70. It is orange with the chrome blacked out.
Love the stance and no nonsense wheels.Hole in the hood does nothing for me though.I'd get some kind of cowl type scoop,or get a cowl hood.
Rain is only allowed when it can be properly taxed by the state senate, then put to a vote and tied to indian gaming...... It also has to meet our strict air polution standards or our attourney General (Jerry Flowerpower Brown) will sue it's manufacturer for exceeding the state limits.... Hey, it's an election year we have issues in Calleephornia....
