I have 1974 maverick with 349 10:1 cr 282 comp small base Hyd roller Edelbrock rpm professional intake holley 750 vacmuum secondary C4 3000 TCI conq 9 inch 3.89 with Nitto drag radial 275-50-15 25.8 . I have tried at 15psi and 12psi . took front shock off very stiff. I replaced every thing about 10 years ago .Was park for about 5 years waiting paint . Have replaced strut arm bushing this years. I can hold it about 1800 2000 rpm on the street with 30psi in tire I might move 5 feet I have to shift at 6000 rpms. amy suggestion. I put the nittos on I thought they would hold. I do have sub frame conector and traction bars.

I don't know what kind of traction bars you have, but you may want to try Caltracs. Only great things said about them on here. I put them on the car I am building but it is not under it's own power yet so I can't give you first hand feedback.

With about any drag radial you don't want to run more than maybe 24 psi and at the track I used 18-20 in my Nittos... Those produced 1.70-1.72 short times and 12.23@105.3 best... That was using 225/50/16 on eight inch rim in a Trick Flow headed T-Bird, weighing 3750 Lb & launching out of the hole on a 75 shot(WOT with nitrous on at maybe 10 Ft out)... Rear suspension totally stock orig w 125K mi...

Now on the street and in cold weather, they held about about as well as if you'd greased them, would break loose so fast I thought the transmission was slipping(and that was NA)...

If those drag radials are what I think they are, you have to heat them up before expecting to get maximum traction out of them. Cold traction's going to be pretty much what any other tire will be.

you pretty much have to boil nittos in the burnout box at the track to get them to hook. et street radials are a much sticker tire but wear faster

I heard about a product called tire claw a few weeks ago at the track at Dinwiddie Va.Some of the racers using old stiff sidewall slicks are using it to get a little time out of them. They said after about 50 passes the slicks still look good but just don`t hook anymore. These are stick shift cars punishing them hard, just paint this stuff on and it softens them up.
