I'm finally trying to fix my a/c heater controls from those parts I got from speedy and can't get the gauge cluster out. Seems like you have to drop the steering wheel and pull the speedometer out if I could figure out how the thing is connected. I seem to remember there being some type of clip back there but cant get it out far enough to see. Anyone have any suggestions. I don't want to break anything else while trying to fix something if you know what I mean.

you know you can remove the clip on the back of the speedometer faster right?..........everyone makes the mistake that you have to pry on the clip to get it out....totally not true all you hyave to do is push on the tab and it will come loose....

and yes you have to pull out the cluster to get to your controls to remove them...you also have to pull the knobs of the controls too
works best if you wrap black tape on a pair of pliers so you can grab them lenthwise and pull them........if you need any parts let me know i have a complete air condiotioning system from a 72 comet

Read the thread called white face gauge tech article.
I went into some detail on how to get it out in there.

Thanks for all the help, what I thought was going to take all day only lasted about an hour. I replaced the a/c heater controls and everything started working like they were supposed too? Still can't seem to get the heater to blow hot, all I get is warm. I checked the vaccum valve under the hood and it appears to opening ok I guess I'm missing something. Any Ideas?

I would guess somewhere between 130 and 150. When I put the new motor in we install new sun gauges. It never gets much over the 130 mark

    Bingo.

    That's pretty cold.
If you put in a bit higher temp thermostat and got it to run around 180-190 your heater will work better.
My car usually hovers around 180 unless I'm in traffic or really stepped into it and the heater works great.
