Well anyone know if the gas tank in a '76 is the same as the ones in '74s my 74 comet has a very leaky gas tank.
I found a place in Des Moines that can get one in 2 days but the listing only goes back to '76. I have a 250 , does that make a difference? What years used the same tank , they quoted me
$157.40 plus $12 or $15 shipping. Anyone know a source with a better price. Is there an after market fuel cell available.

How does the tank / filler neck attache to the filler hole?

Please let me know if anyone has Ideas.
    :(

believe a 76 is a bigger tank...... I think 4 gallons bigger.... I am used to liters so my conversion could be off...

Yeah, you can use the newer style gas tank, but you need to buy the straps for the tank also because it's a bigger tank... and you'll have to get a new fuel sender, the vent that is attached to the top of the fuel tank, they are still available from Ford.
    Part # is: E7DZ9B593-A

The fuel filler neck seal should be the same, so if the one on your existing gas tank is intact, you can re-use it... if not you'll have to go junk yarding.. you'll have to go junk yarding for the fuel sending unit, because they don't remanufacture it.... I just went through all this by the way, lol...
