Auto Krafters carries them. I just got one a month or two ago. Don't quote me on it but I think if was like 6 bucks. it's in their catalog if you can't find it online.

When I put my new sender unit in, there wasn't even a float on the old one! Don't know where it went. I don't know, yours may be the same way. The sending unit itself may also be bad. Only way to check it to take it out of the tank and work it. If the gauge works, it's good. You can put a jumper wire in the plug to check the dash gauge and wiring. Same deal, if gauge works with jumper wire, sending unit or float is bad. AutoKrafters sells new stainless ones for about $80. I know that's high, but they come with a 3 year guarantee....

Last ones I got, I got from Ford. Check with them, they are probably still available. Part # is COAZ-9202-B

If you mean the little round copper barrel I just got one from NPD, I think it was $3.50 plus shipping. They have the correct one and a after market, like some judge is going check. lol
