Got a great deal on G-Force gears to upgrade my T5. One of our friends had a G-Force gear set AND the case for $1000 and he is a transmission guy so he's gonna help us build it up. I'm really excited because this will handle 500-600 hp. The goal is to put it on Bryant's car first since he's planning on upgrading to a T5 as well. And then down the road we'll rebuild the T5 I have with G-Force gears as well or maybe even try a different transmission. Really excited about this build.

The aluminum piece we had was worn out and we didn't think it would hold up as we ll as a steel so we ordered a replacement.

We still need a bellhousing, we need a nice pro 5.0 shifter, and I think that will be it. It's ready to go after that. We are still debating as to what to do. Bryant thinks this one should go in my car and then we'll rebuilt the T5 I have now to go in his car. I think his car dishes out more punishment but I guess swapping them would only take a couple hours at the most. The most important part is getting them in.

we tried going off the T5 rebuild manual but there are some slight differences that we had to figure out. there are spiral locks that have to be added as well.

We had to take the cluster apart because the 5th gear wasn't fitting on well. but everything was correct (well we forgot 2 shims which we added).

in this pic you can see the 5th gear installed along with the lock ring in place. we couldn't get the lock ring on because the 5th gear just wasn't sitting correctly on the input shaft. that's why it's great having intelligent people helping you out. between bryant and dwight they figured out that the gear needed to have the ends of the teeth beveled a little.

here bryant is sanding down the edges. we then took the gear over to the parts cleaner and it fit like a glove.

The endplay is supposed to be in the 4 thousand range. we were able to get that with a 17 thousands shim.

A new good shifter is the first upgrade that should be done on any transmission, you will love it :thumbs2:

Started at about 10am and we got everything done and ready for a test drive by 430p.

I got the car up and undid the trans mount bolts, the bolts that hold up the slave cylinder. Then undid bolts holding the T5 to the bellhousing. Bryant undid the bolts holding the drive shaft in place. Everything came off pretty smooth.

Tranny came off, starter off. I didn't even have to take off the headers or unbolt the exhaust.

The T5 with the G-force gears wasn't quite ready. We forgot to put something in the housing case so I had to take it apart real quick. We also replaced the seal. And the T5 was ready.

It came out great! We took it for a spin and definitely an overall quieter and smoother shift and drive. The 5th gear is unbelievably loud though, don't quite know why yet. I will call G-force and ask.
We need a smaller slave cylinder which will help the clutch disengage easier. Right now I have to double pump the clutch to get the 1st to get in.

sometimes when bleeding hydraulic push style clutches I have had to not let the the arm return all the way by holding the clutch fork. It seemed that the slave didnt have enough "push" and that seemed to let it push the fork a bit further.
