My truck was running rough and got horrendous mileage, been like that since I bought it. It was difficult to start and shuddered as it idled. I figured it was cammed low and it's an old truck so thats just how it was. I lowered the idle speed and said to Hell with it. Well it over heated the other day and when I checked the oil it was void of it. I drained a mere 2 quarts of black ooze and poured in 6 quarts of 30 weight and a half quart of Marvel, topped off the radiator with a newish 13lb cap and... PLUGGED IN THE #8 SPARKPLUG which was disconnected. Now my truck runs smooth and cool and actually has the power one would expect from a 351 with low miles. Amazing how much better a vehicle will run with enough oil and hitting on all cylinders!
