Ok so the fuel tank on my 70 Maverick has a hole in it. This being said I took the tank out to have it repaired and took the sending unit out. Once I did this I noticed that the sock on the sending unit is completely disintegrated. Been to the local auto part stores and none of them have the sock. My question is since this is a daily driver and the tanks is in pretty good shape (no rust or sludge inside it) do I need to put a sock back on it or will I be ok without it?
