Ok someone was helping me with the fuel system when i first got my 73. He thought the old mechanical fuel pump was bad so he put in an electronic pump(without the safety switch, and it doesn't seem to ever turn off). after that we noticed the line was clogged to hell and that was the problem but never put it back to the old pump. is there a lot that can go wrong with the mechanical fuel pump? and can i test it without hooking the lines back up to it:huh:

if the pump is still in the car put a hose to the pump and the toher end to a bucket or somthing and see if it sucks it up

if it's out of the car just push down on the arm and if you hear a RONKING noise then it's good

and they are only like 20 bucks for a new one (((GOOD LUCK)))

For some reason i've had to put two fuel pump on my 302 mav in the past seven years and i have clean tank and line. If it was me i'd just get a new pump. There cheap.

go back to the manual pump

just unbolt the 2 bolts from the stock one and pull it off

then install the new one with the new gasket

put the bolts back on the new one

and run the hose's back to the new pump like it was before

or if the old pump is good just try and run the hoses to there and see if it works ?
