My 11th grade son hates when I use the word Query. Anyway a couple questions for you:

    1) I am rebuilding a pretty good street/strip ride. A couple months back I thought it was the consensus on the board that a mechanical fuel pump was about as good as an electric one with over 100 gpm capacity. My neighbor across the street is insisting on an electric hi performance pump. I think he has me convinced. Is he right?

    2) What do you call the fuel filter "sock like thing" that is in the gas tank? I am having a hard time finding a replacement. Any suggestions where to get one?

    3) I am trying to take the power sterring cylinder off to slip on a new rubber boot. The problem I have is the nut on the drivers outside that is on the threaded stud is messed up a bit, but I have a socket on it. Problem is the shaft keeps spinning when I try to get the nut off. I have used vise grip pliers and even a monkey wrench on the shaft and I cant stop it from spinning. Any suggestions? Should I take the whole cylinder unit off and work on it on my bench? Or do you know a trick to stop the shaft from spinning?

    i dissagree with him....if you have a ...100 GPM...pump,(that i think is 100 GPH) it will feed a street/strip motor.(that's 5 tanks of gas a hour).
if your motor will burn...100 GPM..by all means...
    get 2 elect. pumps...:biglaugh:
    my +/- 400 HP motor has an ...80 GPH...pump.

are you sure its not LPH?

80 GPH is to much to fo fuel injected apps.

    100 gph = 400 lph

my blown tbird has a 255 lph and its fuel injected

For that sock thing, National Parts Depot has 2 sizes in their catalog, or you could do what Frank did, clamp a small hose to the end of the sending unit and put a small fuel filter on the end of the hose.
