fuel pump blues

    hey i need to find out what the fuel pressure is from a stock fuel pump i just put on an edelbrock carb 600cfm 4bbl they (edelbrock) said if i have more then 6.5 psi in the line going to the carb i will have flooding problems when i shut the eng. down it was pouring gas down the carb untill pressure:bowdown: was released any one know what the stock pressure is on a mechanical 302 fuel pump is?

    Your fine with a stock pump. Mine runs around 5.5 psi.

    check float levels...and heat will do the same thing...

    Sounds more like you have a little piece of crap caught in the needle valve! The stock pressure is 5 - 6lbs. If it was the pump pressure, it would flood all the time. (y)

    Need a good fuel filter between the carb and pump

    I had a fresh rebuilt holley do that and it was a tiny piece of neoprene stuck in the rear needle valve. Must have come from the fuel line install at the carb. It only takes a tiny bit of debris.

    well i rented a fuel pressure gauge and found out my fuel pump is running 10 psi so i installed a fuel pressure regulator it cost 35 dollars at checkers thanks for all your input guys:burnout:
