OK...I got the lil 5200 jetted up, float level set, etc..... no more bogging down. Good response off idle, good idle, good part throttle performance, but any time I go wide open throttle while driving, it starts to die and miss until i back out for a lil while, then it picks up, but wont run at highway speeds or full throttle accelleration without seeming to run out of gas. I've replaced the fuel pump, ran it without the gas cap, blown through the vent line and fuel line with compressed air. Same results? I haven't had a fuel pressure gauge on it yet.
Any ideas? This really seems fuel related, any other ideas?
    Thanks guys,
    Brad

Brad; seems like the fuel bowl is running dry. Check the needle and seat, and the fuel pump for pressure (like you said). Might also be trash in the bowl, fowling up the jet. Check the accellerator pump also. Good luck!

Earl, thanks buddy. The carb is new from stovebolt, i had some jetting issues but have resolved them. This thing is clean as a whistle. That's the baffling part, I've checked all the usual suspects...lol. A friend gave me an electric pump. This weekend I'm gonna intall it at least temporarily to see if it makes a difference.
I'll let you know how I come out.

i am assuming that the 5200 is a 4 barrel carb.....and the 250 is a 6 cyl engine....correct me if i am wrong....but a 2 barrell is about max for a 6 cyleinder... and once you get the secondaries opened up .....i am thinking that you are actually flooding the engine so bad that the fire is dying... and there fore running like it is losing fuel...then when you get off the throttle the secondaries close and therefore shuts off the flooding amounts of fuel and then starts to run fine again

    just my .02..... good luck

A Holley 5200 is a progressive 2 bbl carb - a Weber design. It has a secondary that is a little larger than the primary a la the quadrajet. They were used on the 2.3 four bangers and the carbed v-6 engines. I have one (from Stovebolt) and a Stovebolt adapter to put on my '77 with a 250 ci, mild cam and Clifford header.
